Jim says goodbye to Stockport Fans

Jim Gannon took time out from training in his new role as Motherwell Manager to play in a charity game in aid of the Steve Landells Memorial Fund at Christies. The game, which took place at Woodley Sports Centre on 4th July, was between the County Business Club and an All Star XI.

Jim represented MG Domestics in the CBC side playing in a centre half’s role, he used the opportunity to say goodbye to the County fans, who turned out in their hundreds. The ghost was substituted with five minutes to go and received a standing ovation.

Mary Gibbons, who helped to organise the match said, “This was a long standing engagement which Jim was happy to attend and his presence ensured the event raised thousands of pounds for Christies.” She went on to say “ Jim drove all the way from Scotland to be here today which just goes to show the character of the man”

There was one moment in the game when Jimbo rolled backed the years by taking on the whole of the All Stars team, only to see his final shot fantastically saved by the All Stars keeper. Despite the 6-1 defeat the County fans amongst the crowd were happy to have the chance to say goodbye, thank you and wish him all the best at Motherwell.
